World Humanitarian Day 2023

On World Humanitarian Day, the YB Foundation celebrated a local hero whose selflessness and dedication has transformed numerous lives in Soweto. Meet Mme Mpho Madiope, the unsung heroine of the largest township in South Africa whose tireless work has made a significant impact in the lives of many people.

For over 24 years, Mme Madiope has been running the Glorious Child Care Center, a home and daycare center for abandoned and vulnerable children. Despite operating the center as an individual, with the help of good Samaritans around her, she has tirelessly worked to provide a safe and loving environment for children who would otherwise be left alone and uncared for.

The YB Foundation spent the day at the Glorious Child Care Center to honor and celebrate Mme Madiope's work. The team witnessed firsthand the incredible impact that Mme Madiope has had on the lives of the children in her care. The children were filled with joy and laughter, enjoying the special attention and care they received from the YB staff and volunteers.

Project Ubuntu is the YB Foundation's way of giving back to communities in need, and it was an honor to be a part of this special initiative on World Humanitarian Day. The Foundation is committed to empowering local heroes like Mme Madiope and supporting their efforts to make a positive impact in the lives of those around them. Mme Madiope's dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable children is a testament to the power of human kindness and compassion. It is our hope that this initiative will inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their own communities.

In conclusion, the YB Foundation's Project Ubuntu on World Humanitarian Day was an incredible experience that showcased the amazing work of Mme Mpho Madiope. She is a true local hero who has made a positive impact in the lives of countless children in Soweto. We are honored to have been a part of this initiative and look forward to supporting more local heroes like her in the future.
